I always have mixed feelings about these statements because while they are true on the aggregate, a lot of people weren't taken care of. We know the survivors well, less so the victims.

It's good to not fall into despair, but I grieve for those we will lose because of this inhumanity.

The best possible world is one with broad, easily accessible, safe transition-related care for all who want it. But there is a wide gap between that and the complete eradication of trans people, a gap we are currently in! It's worthwhile to see the many spaces between those things, I think.

Thank you! Also, it is my understanding that historically there were some allies, but generally limited. While the changed climate might change that to some extent, people know more now than ever before, and are more likely to know/love an openly transperson. I really hope that is good for something

Also, similar to how some states still fund abortions out of their own funds, not every state will deny access. Also, the science has already been settled; they can't burn every copy of the trans books. There are providers that make Hirschfield look like a child in every major city.

A key part of the oppression of LGBTQ+ folks in the past was simply withholding knowledge- about these identities, that there were others out there like you, that these were things that you can do with your body. It would be extremely difficult to go back to that (though of course not impossible).

Granted, yes, this is considerably less convoluted than it used to be ~10 years ago, but I can't track down what I need by rummaging through hundreds of brand names & dosages & looking them up individually.
