There's a reason these are called "thought-terminating clichés" and everyone would be best served by not repeating them.

This was a pointed message but it's something I think is absolutely true. I don't trust a damn person who touts "common sense" as though it is anything other than mere intuition.

This might be the statement that most encapsulates politics in 2025.

Everyone in the Trump coalition voted for someone to get got. Most of them didn’t realize that they were that someone to someone else.

I was very skeptical of Pritzker when he ran in 2018 and it ended up being a race between two billionaires (I was a supporter of Daniel Biss in the primary), but he has shown more tenacity and competence than I ever expected and I'm proud to have voted for him twice. The Dems could do a lot worse.

issuing correction on a previous post of mine, regarding the Nazis in the Executive Branch. you do not, under any circumstances, "gotta hand it to them" (apologies to @dril.bsky.social)

"Don't get distracted by the government disappearing and dehumanizing trans people. That's a deliberate strategy to distract and overwhelm you" is how some of you sound lately

I think unfortunately that the issue isn't that vilifying empathy is new to evangelicals (it's been a talking point re: queer people for decades) but that now it is being mainstreamed. Conservatives have identified it as a strength of liberal rhetoric, so it must be torn down as a social value.

they voted for harris, because rural voters are not a bigoted monolith despite what you've been led to believe. but even if they didn't? they'd still deserve fucking mail service

That is pretty hilarious, not gonna lie.

I mean

Wow okay we're up to long live the king already

Going to be quite frank, I do not find anything about this “king” stuff to be funny in any form, don’t think there’s a place for us to just crack wise about it and pretend it’s normal, yes we are all irony-poisoned but if we don’t draw a line here then we have no line

I understand why these stories exist but it’s important to be clear that he’s not “saving” 16 billion, he’s choosing, personally, without oversight, to wipe out 16 billion dollars of government services to veterans and the disabled and food safety etc etc
