He cares too much what other people think of him, which is not necessarily bad, but you have to know when to let anonymous shitheads stay anonymous. He engages so freely with people who only want to use his engagement to make more screenshots.

Will, you know I've defended you in the past and I think even this take is semi-defensible, but there was a person who pointed out that this is a weather v. climate distinction and that is a good way to view it. The particulars of the French revolution were not pre-ordained by material conditions

In the same way that climate change did not ordain that a big hurricane would hit New York in 2012. But, big hurricanes got more likely and bigger. They happened from time to time. So it got more likely that one would hit New York and as it happened one did.

Yeah, a mix of blocking and replying (in good faith) mainly to people who seem to be commenting in good faith would do a world of good for the conversations being less frustrating, having the space to better confirm who is actually worth replying to, and having convos that aren’t arguments

The fact that his personal political campaign was financed by local conservatives makes me think that he is dancing between his “audience” and his potential donors.
