Schumer believes the consequences of a shutdown would be worse than the CR, that a shutdown would allow Musk to fire everyone with NO recourse to the courts. I don't know if he's right or wrong, but he's acting on knowledge I don't have, and I think in good faith. THERE ARE NO GOOD OPTIONS.
