NYT is reporting that the initial FAA report attributes the plane’s collision to “not normal” staffing in control tower.
I’m sure that had nothing to do with all the FAA employees terminated by the new Administration.

I don't think there was an airplane *behind* PAT 25. PAT 25 was flying toward the runway(s). They would have had to mistake an airplane that had already passed them.
From the flight radar, PAT 25 was in the flight path already, while the jet was approaching.
If there was a dedicated air traffic controller for helicopters, they may have been able to warn the Black Hawk crew earlier, but still they probably shouldn't have been flying there.
The obvious solution is to remove the military.
The Air traffic control gave plenty of time for the passenger jet to redirect to that runway, looking at previous days' data, it was all normal. They warned the Black Hawk as well.
Equality not to blame for the tragedy
1-20: FAA director fired
1-21: Air Traffic Controller hiring frozen
1-22: Aviation Safety Advisory Committee disbanded
1-28: Buyout letter sent to fed employees
1-29: First American mid-air collision in 16 years
