I remember a story from the Obama years, maybe out of Georgia or one of the Carolinas, about a veteran who came home, became a cop, got a call to an obvs suicide-by-cop, talked the dude down, only for another cop to come up behind the guy and shoot him. Trying to deescalate got the vet fired.

Not just this, but they should be subject to stricter laws than the general public. They would earn much more respect if they followed the military and held themselves to something like the UCMJ and had their own court martial process that was tougher than civilian court.

It has always driven me crazy that if you kill a cop, the sentence is harsher than if you kill a regular citizen. But, if a cops kills a regular sentence, if he's every convicted, he's just a regular sentence. It should be harsher BECAUSE he's a cop!
