By all means, critique the impact of technology on our lives... But in the back of your head maybe stop acting like these complex interplays of social and technological advancement can be teased apart so you keep the parts that have saved lives but cast out the unsavory crusts you have no use for.

Electricity is amazing, the impacts of oil and gas are not.
Modern meds are amazing, corporatised health is not.

I think ultimately what they want is personal agency; They've found the modern world failing to meet their needs, and in turn would rather be self reliant and know exactly what goes into their daily life process.

Its not a *bad* idea, but I do think a lot don't think it through or -

Even the self reliance aspect is a bad actor push, though. Horizontal group reliance is easier to attain than any other method, but self reliance says "I don't want to consider your difficulties, because thinking about anyone other than myself is hard for me"

Agreed. Returning to nature seems like a stupid idea, but respecting nature more and appreciating it more seem like great ideas.
