It's possible to have a plan for growth outside the EU but you have to start by managing and mitigating all the downsides of being out first. Instead the ostrich position was adopted for 8 years and Brexit is still not completely done. The damage is now permanent.

The reason it's not possible is the UK's geographical location.

A non-EU growth plan requires you to reduce alignment with the EU (cutting growth further) in pursuit of more trade with further-away countries.

It also means changing the economy in unpopular ways, such as low wages, deregulation.

Growth will always be lower outside the EU but it's still possible to have some growth. We had the worst of both worlds under the Tories. It won't be fixed for at least another 10 years so we need a plan of mitigation.

It is possible to have "some growth", yes, but all the effective forms of short term mitigation involve getting closer to the EU (increasing alignment)
