The murder of a business executive is awful but I understand people's reactions to it. Let these executives, companies and legislators live in fear until there are wholesale changes to how healthcare is administered in this country.

I have sympathy for him and his family. He no doubt worked hard to become a CEO at a relatively young age.
Rather than blame the people who benefit from our diseased healthcare system, let's blame the system. Nothing about HC should be for-profit. It's a conflict of interest & terrible for health.
I agree, you don't get to be a mass murderer by not starting from a young age, he probably dreamed of murdering people in order to make billion dollar profits for a long time before he actually got to do it.
And then cut down, so young, in the prime of his murdering people career.
He recently sold millions of dollars of United healthcare stock and department of Justice was investigating. So maybe he was shot for a different reason!
The words on the shell casings and the fact the killer was caught on camera, it doesn't look like a professional hit. Looks more like propaganda of the deed.
Who is the system? “The people” running the system ARE the system. They make & implement the rules. Kinda like the guy that got shot in the back.
Why in the back? Probably because his company, his rules caused a lot of patients to suffer & possibly die!
This is, by definition, an assassination, which description changes things. Mr. Thompson was doing something that most of the world would see as immoral. Not a business exec. More like a racketeer. When Alfred Herrhausen (Deutsche Bank CEO) was killed in 1989, it quickly was called assassination.
Well, this is the ultimate wake-up call for these insurance companies. People are fed up with being gouged for premiums, denied coverage, cancelled for no reason, left drowning in debt. Universal Coverage is the answer or more will suffer.
If these execs didn’t know how just how VERY despised they were before, they certainly should have an idea now.
Imagine knowing you could be murdered in cold blood and most of nation either cheered or shrugged.
Wondering if any of them will look inward.
they need to live with the same life and death fears that their customers have everyday when they go to the doctor and need care and then are denied the care
Did you see their c-suite response? They need to revisit how their security detail. That’s it. So plan on rising premiums 2025 to pay for their body guards as they increasingly deny claims. I am told UHG plans to increase their denial rate.
FYI there are a hell of a lot of other companies in the USA that have similar practices to this one, each one employing folk purely to try to stiff their customers and pay as little as possible, if anything at all.

From "The Good Earth" by Pearl Buck.

Line goes up, always.
Each one of these companies also has a CEO.
