Awesome assistance to this sweet female ruby-throated hummingbird! One weighs as much as 2 paperclips.Their 500 mi. non-stop migration over the Golfo de Mexico (1st named on a world map in 1550) is miraculous.🙂
(I’ve done 3 successful rescues (2 bldg. entrapments, 1 stuck to burdock burrs😕)).
I know hummingbirds have extremely high metabolisms and must continue to consume to stay flying and survive.
She knew what she was doing getting it to nectar.
What was wrong with her? It was cold here one day, and I wondered why my hummingbird looked odd. I could see its wings moving as it fed... slow motion!
I found one passed out on a path as I was strolling along. Luckily I had a bottle of apple juice and let it drink from the cap. It recovered and flew off. I will never forget that brief encounter, so magical to hold a living jewel in my hand.
Thank you. That is so wonderful! It shows the amazing beauty of a little bird and the amazing beautiful kindness of a human being. We need this right now.
