I said to someone who was arguing about something they knew nothing about that we both can't be right, this topic is for sure one person's wrong and the other is right. Opinions aren't facts. Facts don't care about our feelings.
You can't fight for the truth, because no one can fully understand reality. When you only get information from anglocapitalist media, you start to believe that this information is the "the truth" while you forget critical thinking.
Trurh is a construct. If something is acepted as a fact in a culture or group of believers, it became true. It means that there are infinite "trusths".
Someone search the truth in science like Karl Popper, but this realities are only true in science terms.
"Truth is a construct" is a truth in our eurocentrical understanding of reality (paradoxically but not absolute), the rest is opinion based in others opinions. Can't you even tell?
Well what about when society starts doubting facts? Honestly that's our bigger issue people truly don't believe in anything anymore. Or worse they find one thing/channel/person that they believe and just run with it
No, it isn't. Tyranny is stronger than ever! They won! You hit 'em with facts, they just say "oh yeah? Well here's MY truth."
You're all skipping the step where you expose "their" truth as BULLSHIT. Wake up and stop confronting swindlers and hustlers on their terms. It's a game we're ALL losing.
My ancestors survived WWII. My parents were hippie protesters, which is how I know just how ineffective their tactics were. You call this weakness, I call it bad strategy. Its the twenty-first century and tyranny isn't what it used to be. "Facts" are your comfort zone and it's getting you pantsed.
I'm asking why there aren't daily protests outside Fox News headquarters. Outside every rural church in America. Oh right, those people don't matter. We wrote them off. "There's more of us than them," blah blah blah. Half the country is a cult and we're content with our self-righteous fact-fest.
Exposing their bs requires presenting them with the facts, which you just correctly argued is a waste of time. People ignore the facts. I remember this one time I posted a fact-check under someone's bs and got 1 like while bs got over 200 likes in the same timeframe. Explain it. π€·ββοΈ
This whole conversation is exactly the problem. People take the first thing they see as the truth and ignore the comments. People don't want to be correct, they want to be right, and if you don't understand the difference that's the whole problem.
TY. I was just scrolling through replies to add ref to Timothy Snyder's On Tyranny, an indispensable book first published in 2017 in case no one else had.
Another chapter in this book, "On Tyranny " by Timothy Snyder highlights this. Highly recommend to read it all of it, as it's concise, on point, and very timely book.
The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced nazi or the convinced communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction (e.g. the standards of thought) no longer exist." Origins of totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt

I would love to join your cause but for now, all of my donations are going to support my people who are being annihilated.
I shared though, and hope one day things will be less dire.

Is there objective Truth?
Someone search the truth in science like Karl Popper, but this realities are only true in science terms.
Facts are Objective. Truth is partially subjective and objective, thus can be manipulated.
Facts stands without need for belief.
We LIVE IN THE INFORMATION AGE!!!

That's one of the reasons I can't get along with fascists.
Also because fascists want to subjugate or kill most of my friends and family.
And then me because I'll be trying to tell the world what the fascists did.
Tale as old as time or some shit.
Who wrote the words youβve shared?

Belief is not knowledge, it is an assumption
If you know something is true, you donβt need to βbelieve inβ it
