Also all the studies RFK Jr referenced today (besides the Mayo Clinic one he misinterpreted about black persons immunity) were funded by anti-vax groups!
And doctors willing to misdiagnose. And parents who relish in their children being special. Furthermore, at 2yo autism, etc, might be diagnosable but that doesn't mean it is the right diagnosis. Like saying a short 9yo can never play in the NBA, the development is not over.
So many things I hate about that whole movement against vaccines:
1. Not every vaccine is the same so saying all vaccines do anything is never going to be true
2. Vaccines aren't meant to stop things normally just reduce harm
3. Even if there are side effects they are usually minor in comparison
On 2 it is so critical that people understand getting measles is no joke and can cause serious problems for kids who get it. The efficacy of the MMR vaccine has been proven beyond any doubt. Getting brain damage from getting it is not worth any weird ideology.
I appreciate your attempt at this message but the people that need to hear this are so far gone. My SiL hasn’t vaccinated her kids…for anything. I worry for them daily in this administration.
Not to mention Wakefield made the report bcuz he was paid by a lawyer to find evidence that vaccines caused autism for a class action against NHS. Oh and he had a patent for individual vaxs for Measles, Mumps, and rubella. Wasn’t even initially anti-vax, just anti MMR. Totally not grifting!
Oh and also of the (I think) 16 “cases” of vaxs causing autism he could drum up, like 4 of them came out and said they had no idea they were being used in the report
And for the “but it was published in a scientific journal” crowd out there, they also published the Korean dude who claimed he could clone livestock lmao.
Of course not. Autism has been around for many centuries. Mozart most certainly was…It just wasn’t defined until 1947. My elderly brother is profoundly autistic. He was born before kids received vaccines. My family leans towards the fragile chromosome theory.
I know you are correct. What really bugs me though is people thinking autism is the worst thing ever. How is autism worse than polio which crippled and killed lots of people? These parents would rather risk the death of their children than autism.
Andrew Wakefield was paid to "find" that result. It wasn't even misguided pseudoscience it was fraud and corruption. For all the braying these people do about 'follow the money's they never seem to acknowledge the money Wakefield took as a bribe to lie on that study about the vaccine.
If half these people who are 40 and older stopped and thought about it, they knew kids with autism when they were a kid. They just didn't have that "designation" but they were treated differently and probably cruelly.
True, but it took The Lancet—which first published the story—over a year to correct it. This along with other factors damaged has seriously damaged their credibility too as a result.
Maybe, JUST maybe, since our population has exploded in the US and worldwide to double what it was back when this study was completed, there just are more people now to diagnosis?
Correct! My 49 year old son is autistic. I knew something was wrong before he was born and before he had his first vaccine. Will gladly explain details to anyone who needs to know.

Now ask the anti-vaxxers if they worry about burning coal putting mercury in the air

Get your kids vaccinated to keep them healthy.
What does that say to those of us that have autism?
Y’all want us dead? You hate us that much?
