I had to fly out Friday and got home today. It was fine. I went through so much unnecessary stress because of what people are saying. The flight crews were all amazing and doing a great job.

There are political reasons for the left repeating misinformation that damages the right, or at the very least not emphatically trying to correct it. It took us way too long to learn to embrace gerrymandering - let's be a little faster on the uptake for embracing misinformation.

I'm not here to debate you. I'm just a girl about to fly to CA on Wed. Am I concerned? Yes. SHOULD I be? I don't know. I just don't know how many of those fired people means that the airport staff I don't usually think about are overly stressed and understaffed. That uncertainty makes me nervous.

Yes. But stop jumping to this conclusion when you don’t have facts and certainly on an accident that occurred in Canada where there’s no evidence to suggest this was due to any ATC action.

But FAA staff were fired, en masse, over the weekend. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to be weary and afraid. I don’t think it’s more accidents than “usual” it’s just that we’re paying attention now. I’m a travel advisor, I have seen the change in bookings shift dramatically.

Hands down flying will always be the safest form of travel statistically speaking. However there is a mental difference. For car or train crashes we have a better chance of surviving IF an accident occurs. Flying the odds of an accident happening are lower, but harder to survive if it happens.

Pilots go through a phenomenal amount of training b/c they ❤️ flying - it's not a massive income industry. Every pilot I've ever met has been someone I would absolutely trust with my life. Upside down plane *on the runway fuselage intact* w/o massive casualties is not a fuckup, it's an epic success.

Yeah..that's the problem. FAA stops working, the best pilots in the world aren't going to stop the chaos and danger.
I just canceled a trip that involved flying out of the US for that reason.

Commercial flight cannot exist without a functional FAA. Expect to see mass cancellations of flights to and within the US. Expect to see accidents, from taxiing to collisions to IFR flights into mountains.

Still, this isn't that and is amazing.

Cuts to FAA/ATC staffing will result in reduced airline flights. It already happens in NYC. It is either delays to slow down the number of flights entering an airspace per hour, or actually cancelling flights for the same reason.

But it also true that firing 100s or maybe 1000s of FAA workers in a climate where plane crashes are happening at a rate not see for a long time is really bad and needs to be confronted.

Sure, the Toronto plane crash can be put down to bad weather judging by the photos. Nevertheless, it's mind-bogging we're still doing the "yeah, this is normal" thing with President Musk/Trump firing all these people for no real reason. None of this is normal.

To say that we can just fire all the Air traffic controls and not expect any IMMEDIATE MAJOR problems is one of the most ignorant statements I have ever read on social media and that is saying a lot. Watch who you follow and promote, some have no business informing people.
