Another crit I have of Metaphor is that it does the same thing Persona 5 does, which is adding more party members too late into the story. They end up not having the time to feel like a part of the group in the same way the intial 4 do.

Last character was one of my faves, and they're super helpful late game so I felt like I spent a lot of time with them, and they're around for a lot of story moments beforehand. Timing made sense to me from a narrative sense, but unless you go all in I can see how it would feel insufficient.
I thought they did a much better job with him than with Haru since he’s a significant presence in the story before he joins, though a lot of the other pacing problems are just the same as Persona’s I think
Thats fair. Part of what i liked with running p5r was getting to focus on those late characters since they were smarter about sprinkling the new characters into the main games story. Hopefully if metaphor gets an expanded version they give more time to those late additions too.
