Apparently the next Pokémon game is about someone in their mid forties who never did the trainer thing deciding to finally go on their Pokémon journey after getting laid off from their office job. Interesting new development for the series.

I unironically would love a pokemon game where we play as adults. It won't happen, of course, because Pokémon as a series is made for 10 year olds, but I can dream!
-Your character can run but only for short bursts and they have to sit down for a while
-You do start the game with a bike
- Your spouse calls you sometimes to ask you pick stuff up from the store
-new status condition: inexplicable back pain
-the evil team is an HOA
That actually could be a hilarious a mini game. Your gone on an adventure and HOA keeps calling cause your grass etc isn’t being taken care of making you balance housework and adventuring
When you put it that way, I think I'm happy with the Pokemon series as is. Because this basically sounds like playing as Larry, and that's a little too relatable for my escapist fantasy game.
If it was me, I'd probably have started, lost interest, and now have a Pokeball (or whatever they are called) sat in a corner with a collection of Pokemon bones and 'soup' inside it i had to clean out first.
And instead of trying to become the champion, you're trying to become a gym leader and both sustain your income and promote a healthy environment for your most loyal trainers.
TOBEFAIRRR give it a ska theme song and make it lean more towards quirky slice of life stuff with a decent underlying story. Id take 80 seasons. Way of the house husband flip kinda lol

Is that a pedigree pokemon from a licensed breeder?
Your Psyduck needs ritalin.
So, it’s my character Alan Wake?
Your Pokémon may just up and leave because they are a fraud and don’t deserve love.
Pokemon The Previous Generation.
You're welcome.
As a premise (not including Detective Pikachu), I find this potentially very interesting
