Genealogy friends! Is it just me or is this new self-selecting community of inclusive family historians a wonderful surprise? It feels to me as if we're escaping those who research their ancestors to exclude rather than connect.

I’ve been on Twitter, I’ve been on Threads, and this is the first place where people with similar interests seem to decide to associate with one another. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention on the other sites.
My Newtons are a bit of a mystery before 1803. Jesse Newton was born in Duplin County, NC, and it is likely his mother was an unmarried woman named Sarah Newton.
Genetic genealogy may suggest a link to the Newtons in that region more broadly but it's a little hard to tell at this distance. (He is my 4th great-grandfather.)

The inclusion here has been so delightful!! An interesting point about those who research to exclude, wow.
