I self-published an erotic steampunk novella called The Blossoms of Summer, where a botanist travels by airship in search of “exotic” beauty and finds much more than he bargained for! Paperback & ebook avail everywhere, ebook on my site: https://www.ceciliatan.com/product/blossoms-of-summer-pdf
Right? And I get to write a highly intelligent and curious narrator who is also sooooo repressed and naive sexually … (and is also a way to critique colonialism…)
"Another Such Victory", a novelette about faith, a burned-out immigrant kid, exploitation, and giant robots, came out in the most recent issue of F&SF!
I also had another novelette, "Matryoshka City", published in The Future Fire. This one's about a man's attempts to unravel the secrets of a strange, layered city.
Hi, I'm Eden and my horror novella is called Catgirls and Cryptids. It's about a teen girl waking to find herself in a lab of horrors with every monster trying to kill her. Will she survive or be consumed by the Island of Paradise? https://catgirlsandcryptids.com/
@khoreo printed my academia x post war second world asian fantasy novelette in Nov 23 / Jan 24. A hapless research assistant, a professor and a jaded park ranger go in search of a fallen dragon in a nature reserve!
I won't claim to be poc myself because I'm only half Indian and often white-passing but all the authors and translators and illustrators in these two anthologies I edited are brown and I'm really proud of both books so here
thank you! I'm looking for novelettes and novellas specifically but this is of interest to me just because of my background, so thank you very much for sharing!
Is @kbwagers.com here? She's a wonderful writer of multi ethnic and multi gender books. Check out the NeoG for some amazing writing, fun adventure and emphasis on consent being the normal setting.
Hi, there! My short story, Echoes in anthology "Saudade" from the good folks of Critical Mass Rocketworks. Most of the writers and publishers where BIPOC and queer folks.
My novelette, “Another Girl Under the Iron Bell” came out in @uncannymagazine.bsky.social this year! (A demon indentured to a monk through a cursed contract seeks revenge and freedom, but is haunted by a doomed past love with an assassin.)
Ambriel is a princess in exile. The usual, after one feigns death to get out of a betrothal.
Out in the woods, up a mountain, she has the witch gig down and her life figured out, until her niece is born a tiger girl, as she was, and Fate starts spinning.
Not Fate. Consequences.
I'm not sure whether this is exactly what you're looking for but I published a novelette at @uncannymagazine.bsky.social this year called "Wonderland Is a Parking Lot in Revere"
(Mentor-student relationships! A tenor trying to get his high C!) https://www.uncannymagazine.com/article/wonderland-is-a-parking-lot-in-revere/
Posted online my fanfic YA adventure novel The Desert Trio, about Latino/Indigenous magical teens, as a metaphor for the challenges faced by multiracial children. https://archiveofourown.org/works/51816352
Thank you! We're on novellas and novelettes but I support you so thank you. Reposting! And hanging on to this if we are publicly crowdsourcing novella info!
