I try to get out to a theater at least a couple times a month (the Alamo Drafthouse subscription is A+). Challengers, Anora, Saturday Night and Love Lies Bleeding are probably my faves for things that came out this year. Heretic and The Substance are also both very good if you like horror.

When I finished MBA school one of my great friends and I started a business and made a go of it for a few years but it didn't quite take. So I do think I had the entrepreneur thing early. I really do use Fitbod, it knows me pretty well by now, there's usually some form of cardio (spin, elliptical, stairs) and then some lifting and/or mat-work. When my back feels normal, it's usually 1.5 hours or so 5 or 6 days a week.

Hi, Patrick! Hope you're well. Yeah, the main problem is probably that fewer and fewer people read! But the biggest structural issue is consolidation -- there are like three big publishers now. And nobody wants a book that might sell "fine." It's been a lament for 50 years; it's so much worse now.

I mostly figure it out on the fly. I screwed up "War On Sound" plotwise on the fly and wasted months of work fixing it, so my next book I *TRIED* to figure it all out beforehand, spent weeks figuring the entire plot, and wound up never writing it. The blood was just gone. I'm a seat-of-pants guy.

You often mention on your podcast that we shouldn't skip the ads, but do you have any way of knowing if we skip ads? I sometimes skip ads when I already know about the product. I wouldn't do that if it would hurt you with advertisers, but I assume there is no way for you to track this.

Under normal circumstances (on most shows) it actually matters if you skip ads, because they "pixel track" you (there's code embedded in the audio). I actually refuse ads that pixel track (which is a pain for me) because of privacy concerns, so on *my* show, I actually do not know if you skip.

Thanks for the info, and I definitely do not skip all the ads. I have two Leesa mattresses, some Brooklinen sheets, and am a regular in the Harris DraftKings contest. Still considering Trade and Wild Grain, but not sure about adding more monthly subscriptions. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Hey, I get it. I don't think anyone should feel compelled to get things they're not sure they want (or can't afford). I appreciate you so much. The thing that's incredible about our audience is that they care at *all*. I am 100000% the luckiest person who does what I do for a living.
