A lot of objection to “objectivity in journalism” is based in antiracism, specifically in the understanding that when a journalist’s identity isn’t of the “neutral” ilk, nothing we write is taken seriously as objective reporting no matter how much distance we put between ourselves and the subject.

Maintaining distance from a subject and not taking part in activist organizing is not the same thing as "bothsideism" or a false notion of objectivity, and if you are responding by claiming I am saying journalists shouldn't have opinions you need to realize that you're responding to my opinion

We do this work differently when the question of “what if they don’t take me seriously?” isn’t even worth asking, tbh it keeps me honest.
