it's so funny how many times Stevie Nicks re-recorded Silver Springs just to repeatedly get Lindsey Buckingham on camera while she screamed, "You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you." there will never be another band even a little like Fleetwood Mac.

In case it is not clear, people in the US on work visas have been advised by immigration law firms to avoid participating in protests, observing them, even being near any of them. If you encourage me to go to a protest, I am going to ignore you.

Man, our institutions need to form an "alert circle"

I’m so mad I missed my opportunity to bully Adobe before it got run off Bluesky 😮‍💨

$128 aprons TikTok? In this economy?

“There are so many alarms to ring about the actions of this administration, but the damage to essential technical infrastructure may be one of the effects with the longest tails.“

I’m honestly confused about what we’re meant to feel about rich people going on trips to space.

I'm glad they did this and better late than never. But it would have been nice is this spine evolved when a racist mob came for the university's first Black woman president.

I wasn’t particularly into Emily Mariko content before but her new videos featuring her toddler watching her cook with laser focus is so cute and aspirational 🥲 I can’t try to replicate because bb would try to grab a knife and throw a fit because I won’t let him help chop or play with the mandolin.

Imagine feeling ripped off by the skilled Chinese labor rather than the greedy fashion houses charging you $$$$ for a “made in Italy” label alone.

TIL???

I love doing Q&As but I don’t think I could ever write a profile because the idea of honestly describing someone’s appearance and mannerisms who can then go and read it makes me want to break out in hives.

HAPPENING NOW: Rümeysa Öztürk (repped by ACLU) has a hearing before Vermont federal judge William K. Sessions III. Öztürk is the Tufts PhD student snatched off the street by ICE and now facing deportation for cowriting a pro-Palestine op-ed in the student newspaper. 🧵

Apropos of nothing, I love that Pikachu attacks using their lethally cute chubby cheeks

This piece by @naomiaklein.bsky.social and Astra Taylor is so sharp in its diagnosis of what we are facing and the way we fight back. We don't fight fascism with fascism-lite. "we will need to build an unruly open-hearted movement of the Earth-loving faithful" 1/

Calling this the New Jim Crow does not adequately name what this is. Angola, America’s largest maximum-security prison, sits on 18,000 acres in Angola, Louisiana. Incarcerated workers in Louisiana prisons earn between $0.02 and $0.40 an hour for their labor. www.pbs.org/newshour/nat...

OK, speaking of parasocial relationships with people from the past, I always knew that Bai Juyi 白居易 was kind of a cranky dude, but redeemingly, he did seem to care for his daughters and granddaughter. However, the other day I was trolling around...

Body horror that makes you smile

This isn't really the point but space tourism has a huge carbon footprint.

Today, baby grabbed my cardigan and said “jacket!” with the crispest “t” I’ve ever heard. 🥲 he’s growing up so darn fast

Holy smokes. www.nbcboston.com/news/local/m...

Man, kids these days say “bro” too much

Is it about Kylo Ren’s impetus behind slaying Snoke possibly?? I want to hear more

When it came out, I felt The Force Awakens cut world-building corners to repeat A New Hope, but 10 years on, its depiction of a world where embittered fanboys lean into totalitarianism and extremely recent history has been forgotten (if not repressed) seems prescient. My bad, JJ Abrams.

For @us.theguardian.com, I interviewed librarians about the impact of Trump’s administration, including the Institute of Museum and Library Services being gutted, experiences at work, & the incredible importance of library resources, programming, and support: “We get everyone at the library.”

People need to read Arendt’s “Reflections on Little Rock” to understand how narrow and provincial her political philosophy actually was. There was certainly no room in it for Black people as fully realized beings able to make demands on the state.

Are you saying students are turning in AI generated papers to be graded by an AI instructor??? And the schools get paid for this interaction??????

So it seems @lucyknisley.bsky.social’s “Woe” is baby’s first comic 💛

I should go to sleep but I’m thinking about how easily lawlessness has prevailed while it is infinitely harder for an immigrant to navigate the myriad steps just to gain/maintain legal status

I really hate this take. You have no idea why people didn't vote. We live in a country with systemic voter suppression. Election Day isn't a national holiday in the US and there's a host of mechanisms set up to encourage people in many states not to vote.

I am sorry to say Viola Davis is not lit particularly well but I am enjoying watching her in this ex-army madam president role. Give her a John Wick type franchise with a better fight choreographer/videographer and she would absolutely kill it.

My tiktok is filled with people (some in China) explaining how your favorite luxury brands are all actually made in China and often times they'll add some random finishing touch in a European country to get like a made in Italy label
