We are deeply troubled to learn that some members of the Jewish community are calling for the deportation of foreign-born university students and faculty who they deem “pro-Hamas,” and compiling lists of those they want to target for deportation.

Here (the UK), the media talk about 'THE Jewish Community', and the Chief Rabbi and the Jewish Chronicle are held up as its voice. But Jews do not speak with one voice, eg some Haredi groups don't recognise the modern state of Israel; Liberal and secular Jews have a variety of views. >>>

There is little doubt that the far right/MAGA will revert to type as soon as its weird obsession with Israel fades, and then the idea of 'The Jewish Community' becomes especially dangerous. Across the globe.
I wasn't disagreeing with you, but worrying about the wider fall-out of the karma.
Exactly, the Jews are not a monolith as far as their position on Israel, support for war...until they are being targeted for discrimination, at which point, they'll all be equally vulnerable. Having been in that position before, you'd think they'd pause before playing Trump's game against others.
I think the problematic sentence in this article is right at the beginning: "Allegedly pro terrorist students and faculty"
...I would lay money that these are people protesting genocide NOT cheering for Hamas. Important distinction.
This is even more troubling given that the very nature of what does and does not constitute an antisemitic or "pro-terror" remark or position is frequently contested even by Jews.
These are the very values that have been fundamental to the flourishing of Jews in the United States. Such tactics threaten to return us to an era of blacklists and witch hunts.
If you are for helping get rid of Trump and you have some backing from high places I'm with you. The Jewish people have been through this before and I don't want it happening to anyone else. It's absurd to see some cheering it on like the ADL.
Jews were taught about the Jewish collaborators, both in and out of the Germany, who helped the Nazis in a hope they’d be spared. They weren’t. Yet pro genocide Jews don’t seem to understand that. Of course, they never really understood what the horror of the Holocaust was.
@popezebbidiexii.bsky.social no, just someone who lived in miami for 20 years, knows how things work there, and know it's not a place to mess with people, their families or friends, and if you do, payback is a bitch
That's what the bully wants - everyone snitching on everyone that leads to lower common denominators of civil behavior, not higher. Let's insist on a more decent and reasonable immigration policy that includes addressing climate change and has much better international mitigation measures.
Eh. There definitely are and were people cheering for Hamas, specifically Hamas. They named rallies after the massacre and such. Do a search here for people with a red triangle in their username, you'll find many of them. I wouldn't want them or, really, anyone deported though.

Unfortunately that Leopard is going to also eat the faces of millions of Jews who have been standing up against the genocide.
It is shameful that any organization, let alone a Jewish one, would pass along a list to encourage the administration to deport students.
But these tactics undermine the fight against antisemitism and universities' basic values.
reality - yes
Not good.
*** Pro-Palestine =/= Pro-Hamas ***
Fuck off with that garbage, Israel. Intellectually dishonest chuds...
