Bacardi stopped making 151 because of hurricane damage. They concentrated on their core products

That's not what a Bacardi tour guide told writer Whitney McIntosh on a Bacardi tour in Puerto Rico. Also they stopped making 151 in 2016, Irma and Maria were in 2017. No sizable tropical storm hit PR in 2016, and while there was a storm in 2015 the impact was limited.

I am in the liquor business and that's what I was told by my supplier. Maybe it was not a profitable product, I don't know. Anyway, Everclear is always available at 190 proof. It was out of stock for awhile in 2020, as it was used for hand sanitation.

I grew up in Nassau and we called that shit the Tourist Trap. If you lived there you drank it exactly once and then never, ever again. I brought a bottle back to the UK once and only later found out it’s illegal to take on planes.

My group in college drank Bacardi & Diet Dr Peppers. Diet Dr Peps were the cheapest with our dining hall coupons. It was definitely an acquired taste!

I never drank it straight. A flaming Dr. Pepper is half a pin of a lighter beer, a shot glass filled 3/4 with amaretto and then topped with 151. Then the bartender sets the 151 on fire, you pick up the shot, drop it in the beer and chug. If you do it fast enough it tastes almost like a dr.pepper
