Also I'm going to repeat again: Greenland has for awhile seen aligning at least somewhat with US interests as a way of decoupling from Denmark. In much the way a Trump has even Quebecers waving the Candian Flag, he has Greenlanders

Also: have you been to Greenland? Most of the communities aren't connected by land. It's ferry or plane. You can overland only in the (short) summer really, unless you're very good at dog sledding

Kangerlussuaq is the only true inland settlement in Greenland because it's an old us military base from ww2 iirc. If you drive from kanger to the ice sheet you have to stay on the road because the us set landmines but didn't map them all so going off road risks death. That and Camp Century are

No. A lot of people think Greenland is a resource play (lots of critical minerals under the ice sheet). There's also an argument it's just siding with Russia to blow up NATO. I think a lot of people don't understand what Thule is really for. I didn't until I went.
