Nextdoor people acting like $5/dozen eggs is the biggest issue right now, and then blaming that on state D government, is really something.

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

I've been seeing lots of super compelling videos of park rangers and federal lawyers and other federal workers telling their stories. Talking about what they did at their job, how it helped the American people, and why they want to keep doing those jobs. This is the way.

People in the comments saying he gets what he deserves bc he voted for Trump. That attitude is a loser attitude. Grow up. We’re all in the same boat and we sink or swim together.

Today, I used @5calls.org as a guide for my messages to my electeds. The main things I left messages on were about protecting (1) national parks, and (2) the post office. I think those two things would be of particular concern for Michiganders.

Today my @5calls.org were about the mass firing of federal employees. I used the National Parks script as my base. And yes, I called before their office hours because I’m sick, have a massive headache, and didn’t want to argue with anyone today. But still wanted to make my calls!

Please show a bit of 🎉 for a senator explaining how they’re fighting for us!

The budget the Republicans are putting on the floor tonight will cut essential services that millions of American families rely on. All so they can pay for tax cuts for their billionaire buddies. I'm going to spend all night fighting back.

That’s what I’m talking about bsky.app/profile/pete...

Tonight I’m pulling an all nighter in what's called a "vote-a-rama" with my colleagues to amend and reduce the harm to Michiganders in the Republican-led budget proposal. www.youtube.com/shorts/-QBvs...

Very glad that Arielle posted because I didn’t see the explainer in my feed and I’ve been asking for more from @slotkin.senate.gov Thanks, Elissa!

@peters.senate.gov a guy with your last name doing important work to protect the Great Lakes voted for Trump and then got illegally fired by him. He and his community might appreciate hearing from you! cc @slotkin.senate.gov

“Peters’ job included replanting forests with young saplings, and he said he put in “100% effort all the time…. Peters feels betrayed by politicians he helped put in office. He voted for Trump in November, impressed by his vows to bolster the economy…”

Former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe was arrested at a city council meeting after stating, “MAGA is explicitly a Nazi movement. You may have replaced a swastika with a red hat, but that is what it is,” before engaging in peaceful civil disobedience.

New, from me: I talked with producers from Last Week Tonight about politicization of government, so was looking forward to seeing this episode. Its a good one, worth sharing. (Plus, what does the research say about politicization and government performance). donmoynihan.substack.com/p/what-resea...

@washingtonpost.com, "mistaken" does not accurately capture the sit. Better would be "reckless" or "uninformed." I say this bc it's being done across agencies wo regard for the person/job. It seems opportunistic in that they found an employment category that was useful for their destructive purposes

For my fellow Michiganders still building their following lists, this starter pack may be of interest to you. go.bsky.app/P7sb1tm

A good news story in the midst of so much bleakness. This is really wonderful. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I escaped poverty because I am a scientist. And I am a scientist because of the National Science Foundation. A 🧵:

One antidote (for me) to the anxiety that comes from watching our government being awful to its citizens is to learn about the ways that civil servants are seeking to make things better. I watched a presentation today on how state gov is making MI parks more accessible ❤️ and it felt good!

Do it @housedemocrats.bsky.social @senatedem.bsky.social.

"But funding can’t protect the #GreatLakes if there’s nobody to direct it." Recent staffing cuts could cost the EPA's Great Lakes National Program Office approximately 200 employees - one-fifth of its workforce. www.wbez.org/2025/02/14/a...

Provided we have a functioning judiciary, I assume that the American taxpayer will be on the hook for all these lawsuits?
