Heyyyyy my folks live just up the road a bit! If it’s anything like last year keep an eye out for javelina, they’ve been more active and visible than I’ve ever seen.
i just took amtrak from denver to san francisco and a lot of western colorado felt a bit like this
i haven’t visited nm in far too long. have you ever visited the monastery near ghost ranch? christ in the desert, benedictines out in the back of beyond
I've been to Ghost Ranch but not the monastery. I'll add it to my list.
That must have been awesome. Yes, Western Colorado does feel this way. Bosque is a special place because water is so rare in southern NM but the Rio Grande lets the trees and birds thrive at Bosque.
i grew up going to ghost ranch every summer but the monastery feels more like what i remember than the retreat center does now. a lovely place and very far from anywhere, no cell service :)
the chama river flows right past it so you get that incredible outpouring of life. i like to sit down by the water and listen to all the birds, it feels almost orchestral. like a john luther adams piece.

it’s a delight and i’m so grateful
