When I fill up at the petrol station it has to be to the exact pound with no exceptions. It's much harder than it used to be as petrol has gotten more expensive over the years. On my last trip I tried to get it to £20 and finished on £37

I used to get annoyed if I didn't hit it dead-on to the pound. Since deciding to fuck that silly rule off it genuinely feels like a liitle thrill to just stop randomly after putting in £20 worth.
I mean, my dad used to do that when paying in cash. Not really seen the point when paying by card.
Lots of pumps now have buttons to choose the value of petrol you want to buy anyway.
I remember the old thrill of being able to set the auto fill clip in the pump handle and letting it do its thing, leaning on the car like James Dean (minus the fag.) Killjoys removed them all.
When I first started driving I used to go to the one garage in our village where the little old fella came out to fill it up for you. It was ages before I used a pump myself!
I only remember being confused by endless signs saying ‘self-service’ and thinking- well who the hell else is gonna do it? Then I discovered it wasn’t always that way.

Not to worry, you're still married.
Yeah, mate. She was into it!

I still get a little thrill from not even looking at the pump and just stopping when the auto stop kicks in. Such futuristic joy.
Or the horror of being called out by the tanoy person.
