I learnt from one of my current students that Sydney isn't the capital of Australia. I've been teaching geography at that secondary school for 18 years.

Cover your ass with the proviso *currently*, like, maybe it once was, or it's still in some kind of debate internally within Aus itself. After all, the capital of England is no longer Chelmsford but it was in the year AD 123.
I wouldnβt worry too much. Itβs an underwhelming city to say the least - all roundabouts and government buildings. Itβs one of the few places you can legally buy fireworks though, so you know, swings and roundabouts.

Was this the secondary school?
Actually, it's just colouring π€

If you are 49 years old, you were born closer to Canberra becoming the capital of Australia than you are to today.

Also odd that there isnβt a train service between Sydney and the, er, capital.
1) Other countries have as their capital city one that has a smaller population than their most populous city e.g. USA, so not odd at all.
2) there is a train between Sydney and Canberra, so also not odd.
