I'm possibly on some watch lists now but I honestly believe this is an issue that we need to speak out on, especially in the context of an election with one party endorsing these sorts of views. Academic freedom without diverse views is not free. Thanks to The Guardian #auspol #histmed #disability

The intellectual isolation of the US is a serious problem for all of us. The article features a couple of our outspoken Sydney HPS grad students. Obstacles to the brilliant trans student doing a PhD in the US are very disturbing.

We also have several universities here that continue to defend academics that have actively brought about these things and continue to agitate for them here. Last year the RANZCP entertained conversion therapists and defended it as somehow being academic freedom.
I am afraid that the foothold is already here and we have started down the same path as the UK and the US. So what do we do?
