As a tourist I’ve paid to go into museums and art galleries abroad and happy to do so. I see no problem with charging tourists to do the same in UK.

Manchester have already introduced it. It part paid for the excellent Turner engravings exhibition on at the Whitworth Gallery. Exactly how it should be used, further enhancing the appeal of the city.

Hunt's view of the reasons for UK overnight visits seem very narrow. Direct charging may be more useful to the sector. Paid ticketing for non-UK nationals at DCMS and ScotGov funded locations, with % redistribution nationally on basis of attendance, could yield far more guaranteed benefit.
