Caught the made in WA train last night from Leederville to the city and to Freo . New trains have USB charging ports. Cost $2.06

True they did. Bought them from Korea. Libs love outsourcing manufacturing offshore. Trains, ferries, subs... Shame the Libs trains wouldn't fit through the tunnels. Where were they fixed 5 yrs later ?....Newy by Novacastrians who've been building NSW trains for a century.

Hey I'm no fan of the Libs but Labor started the privatisation BS when Keating started selling things. The tunnel thing is a furphy - they always needed to be widened because they couldn't take trains other than the V sets which needed replacing. And I want to see them build trains in Newy again.

. WA govt and Michelle Roberts were responsible for reopening of the Midland workshops and the trains were built in WA . Wa Govt also took back 600 jobs from Serco at FS and hundreds of jobs from private road work companies . It’s about 2024 and the state Labor govt not what Keating did 30 yrs ago

I'm glad that happened in WA. If you don't want to go back 30 years to Keating we can go back 15 years to the ALP government in NSW which had Waratah trains largely built in China. I hope Minns lives up to his word about building trains locally - he's already bought locally built ferries.

I like the trains built in Aus. Ferries as well. So many manufacturing jobs and skillsets lost over the years. Now we have those same skills and workers imported. Imagine if TAFE had the same kudos as Unis back in the day.

Agree with the sell offs under Labor as well. Doesn't make continuing it on steroids right. Anyway. I suppose you shouldn't believe the media hey with the furphy. Great to see manufacturing on scale return again. Gutting TAFE + break in skill transfer between App and retirees has an impact.

Caught 2 trains each way. One from Freo to Perth and one Perth to Leederville( near East Perth oval) . The fancy new one was on the way back from Leederville to Perth . Didn’t count the carriages . Did have the fancy button to open door . So impressed with the. clean trains. Permanent cleaners ?

Nice. Still waiting in the Southern Highlands for replacement of 1970’s trains. Tho they have improved the seats, increased the unreliability, and reduced services. Labor thinks we’re all silver spoons here and Libs assume their constituents don’t access public transport. Role on Independents.

I still have memories of catching the early "South Mail" from Picton, & the MossVale Express that left Strathfield & went via Granville & Liverpool.

We suffered with the older carriages for years & the current rolling stock is crappy & dated.

The population has increased, electrification is needed
