Yeah, it’s a dumber version of the game of allowing a few corporation to make/use a ton of plastic unchecked and then telling everyone it’s their responsibility to recycle.
Yes they are. Grass-fed cattle is catastrophic: still produces lots of CO2 & CH4, doesn't actually produce much food but requires huge areas of land that could otherwise hold onto lots of nasty carbon if used sensibly.
Part of it is putting cows on the land that is not good for agriculture and isn't easy to use as a carbon sink but does support grazing animals. Another one of those indigenous practices we should learn from
But it solves no problems; it doesn't, and can't, feed many people (other than the rich).
One of the reasons we moved away from indigenous, self-sufficient low-density practices was realising that larger more integrated & higher-tech civilisations were more efficient.
Alternatively, all the govt action necessary will be useless if individuals don't also modify their own behaviour slightly.
Apparently, that's an even mightier 'if'.
Lots of people seem very unwilling to forego their meaty treats, don't they? To the point of seeing climate collapse as preferable.
turns out it wasn’t the energy companies or the intensive farming that was at fault it was YOU all along, having more 2 kebabs a week. Well done, I hope you’re all very happy.
