i can't reply to this directly but the reason people have to do detective work is because scammers keep popping up to take advantage of well-meaning people and the moderation response doesn't help anyone, least of all the people being impersonated who NEED that money like Anas - ThreadSky

i don't mean to moralize here and i know everyone who follows me already understands this: you can *not* just randomly boost people without reading into who they are and what they do because you inevitably WILL get scammers targeting you.

i am not naming names but there are multiple large accounts who will gladly just repost anything without even reading it. i know because they keep popping up in my investigations. you are doing more harm than good because a) you're boosting scams and b) the legit ones get ignored due to the volume

we all like to think so, but the truth is that these scammers are not idiots. while they try to scam anyone, they have preferred targets, and those targets tend to be people who have unknowingly abetted them in the past, or people with huge followings because just one repost gets them so much reach

i genuinely hate trying to help people by letting them know they're boosting scammers and getting responses like these. it's curt, it's dismissive, and most importantly, it's insensitive to those who may actually need your help and your audience
