i've seen a lot of discussion going around about it but to be clear, palestinian stuff is not my wheelhouse and never will be. i have maybe two or three scammers who pretend to be from gaza, and they also pretend to be queer, disabled, american, and a thousand other things at the same time

i appreciate people who tell me but there's no need to let me know when a scammer's account gets suspended; instead, you should assume that to be the natural conclusion of every scam account. it's more noteworthy when one doesn't get suspended, which means bluesky is dragging their asses again

So after doing a bit of investigation I've noticed that some of the Steven Mwita scammers have pivoted to using non-public means to ply their scams, namely email. This of course can only happen if they know your email (such as if you have donated to them), so people are generally at little risk

not that anyone should need more proof that this is fake because loy khaemba is dogshit at scamming, but here's an archived tumblr post from the same scammer running a completely different scam over there (you get one guess where the paypal link goes)

i can't reply to this directly but the reason people have to do detective work is because scammers keep popping up to take advantage of well-meaning people and the moderation response doesn't help anyone, least of all the people being impersonated who NEED that money like Anas
