My man, don't introduce logic and reason into an expectation when it comes to UMass athletics. You're the ones who taught me that and why even over here 60% of my recommended feeds are about UMass football. You got ME to hate Bamford. Expect the most poorly handled thing then you'll be surprised.
I'm no #searchszn specialist, but what does a prolonged timeline indicate? The basketball search lasted a long time, but they ultimately got their man and were very good at keeping news under wraps.
Football does not allow for that timeliness. Portal is opening next week and you can't miss a day of recruiting during that time. Also if you fire your coach early it is inorder for the next guy to get a jump in the portal. An extended search here is a sign of incompetence if you get your guy or not
