The HP Smart app installed on Windows by the printer drivers still registers a scheduled task that wakes up your computer to check the status of network printers. It re-enables itself if you disable it. 🤬

vendor installed software for laptops or printers are some of the worst collection of bits imaginable. its almost always crapware you dont need or want.
surely you can install the driver without having some agent running in the background? i mean, printer drivers are complex, but not 'needs a tray app running 24/7 complex ' right? if not then its even worse then i thought.....

+ Figured out how to re-enable a task
- Employed a scheduled task to mask just how bug-ridden the hardware product really is
- Thought nobody would notice the ghost in the machine.
