Federal funding from the Library Services & Technology Act, administered through #IMLS and then through the Alaska State Library, provides many, many smaller grants to Alaskan libraries, some of which help them keep the doors open and allow interlibrary loan service. https://lam.alaska.gov/library-grants/funding

Libraries are the hearts of their communities, and many libraries are under fire by state governments. Without federal support, libraries, especially in small, rural communities, may not be able to stay open. The library is one of the last free places where all community members are welcome.

I have to admit that yesterday, upon hearing the news about #IMLS (on top of all of the other bad news), I gave in to despair. But this morning, I am ready to keep fighting and sent out another round of emails to my legislators. Please join me in writing and calling to save our libraries.
