Leather hard to stiff leather hard. Unfortunately, this clay flexes pretty easily even when pretty stiff.

Termites ate a load-bearing wall in studio. Repairs done in August, but the last piece - doors - came in after my hip replacement. Still need to paint a corner of drywall, hang shelves, and try to make order. I have a table to small pieces ready to decorate that are calling my name.

Soda (gas), I have a little bailey soda kiln out back... It's efficient, but still runs on gas, maybe one day when restrictions change I can convert to veggie oil!

Eastern Kentucky. Normally the first few weeks of the year threaten the coldest weather and this year delivered but no frozen pipes (knock on wood) so yay! I have heat enough to keep the clay from freezing but not enough to motivate me to work just yet.

I sell through a garden center and they are requesting planter pots! It can never be too early, I suppose. Especially because it will probably take me a while to fulfill it. 🫣

I’m in central North Carolina and work as the supply shop manager at Starworks. I received an NC arts council grant for 1,000lbs of clay and firing to make and wood fire some larger scale work.

My plan is to continue my current body of dog forms, but I will be making pieces that are 3-4ft in height, and then firing them in the Starworks noborigama or in other anagamas in the Seagrove area.
