Looks like “Down and around” will beat out “Up and over” today.

But, after 13 hours, only by 20 minutes and 5km!

Approaching Tokyo now. Only about 10 minutes difference in arrival time.
Doesn't make that much difference after all, eh?

I would have assumed that Narita would be north and Haneda would be south.

That is what they’re doing - but don’t think that’s why. FIN61 is on a curious routing - headed SE now in the direction of Mumbai.

I didn't actually check the flight numbers on the planes. I sort of assumed that they where lined up with the info boxes.

That threw me off too. Here’s where FIN61 is now- just turned to the NE, taking the scenic route around Russia

FIN41 to Seoul also taking this lower route.

If my math is right, this adds like 3-4 hours to flying time? That’s a lot of fuel.
