I learned a lot about DTel readers after a bomb went off in Canary Wharf, damaging DTel offices mid production. Despite the odds, staff produced a paper minus the front page, save for an explanatory paragraph pasted on. The crossword editor got 600 letters of complaint over the lack of a crossword.

Yes, perish the thought that pot hole fixers should be able to do their job without fear of getting taken out by a Chelsea tractor… Ignore all the extra cars that weren’t on the roads when they were young… Yes, it’s all diversity’s fault. 🙄
Potholes do need fixing though! That’s true!

Matlock reader should be reassured that in my poor northern French region there are potholes big enough to hide a mobylette (or a diversity manager, but there aren’t many of those in these parts).

So many people of all ages believe anything they read. Be it in the pages of the right wing activist billionaire owned press or on billionaire owned social media. 'If it's written down it's true' is such a dangerous mindset but it's one shared by older people and some who are much younger.
