The CSR comm I'm on just pulled all Diversity F grants from the current review cycle. These apps are reviewed alongside (and by the same criteria) as all other F grants. So, instead of helping these trainees, they will actually be punished by having their grant reviews delayed at least 1 cycle !?!?

Some ppl are suggesting reviewers take a stand- if the diversity F31s can’t be reviewed this cycle then no F31s should be reviewed. I know none of us wants to slow things down after panels finally restarted, but this seems like the only fair approach to me. Wait till next cycle to consider everyone.

How do you know if your application is pulled? I received an email yesterday saying my Review Group was reassigned and the meeting date was changed from March to May?

The May date is probably council meeting, not study section, right? You would know because the study section date that previously appeared has now been removed. You can also email the F31 PO at your NIH institute for clarification (look it up on the institute webpage if you don't know them already)

Assuming the May date you see is council not SS, what you described sounds like exactly what happened to all the applicants I know, so I think it means yours won't be reviewed 😔 I'm so sorry.

As an URM student that would not be pursuing my PhD at an Ivy without the support and confidence I built from many programs like MARC, etc., I want to thank you for being vocal on this. 💜 my application was reassigned to the original study section, so voices like yours make a difference!!!

Mine was pulled two days ago. Third submission to the mechanism. No study section currently listed. No information provided beyond status change. Give the limited information about actual funding rates for those programs, it may have done more harm than good but making it easy to withdraw my grant

I am so sorry. This is horrible and discriminatory, and should be subject to legal action. My student's diversity F31 was reviewed last cycle with an impact score of 19, and we are awaiting funding decision. I am nauseous with dread that it will be pulled from consideration.

My diversity F31 was also pulled. 😟 Really frustrating to have months of hard work essentially thrown away. Not to mention the delay that resubmission will cause. Wish there was a way we could all come together and do something about this.

I know EO 11246 was rescinded, which prevented discrimination in federal hiring, but the Civil Rights Act seems like it should apply here. If so, what would prevent everyone who submitted a diversity F31 from suing based on this.
