I've tried to conquer Gibbon twice before in this lifetime and got no further in the Roman decline than Commodus, but over the next four years I'm going to bury all six volumes. Albeit, the backdrop of our current imperial collapse will be, I think, vastly more moronic than anything in antiquity.
