That is awesome lifespan for that WM. I settled on XFCE eventually. WindowMaker had some pretty cool themes too so it wasn't a complete lamerfest

Yeah, the Dock was fun. I loved adding/removing/tweaking things there.

Spent a lot of time customizing the menu too, to add keyboard shortcuts for launching apps.

Workspaces (alt+1 Terminal, alt+2 Web, alt+3 Programming, etc) was the killer feature for me and why switching to i3 was an easy move.

I'm pretty sure the OpenBSD dev crew mostly just used/uses twm with the stock X11 to make some of the best software in the world so you're in good company

Yeah, turns out you don't need much of a window manager. i3 is a tiny amount of code.

And even less important now that most stuff that isn't programming is just in a web browser, which has been a godsend for us Linux users (in most ways).
