Finished Georges Simenon's The Snow Was Dirty. Along with The Little Man From Archangel it was my favourite of his so far. One reviewer said it was 'so noir it made Raymond Chandler look beige', and another said reading it was like 'repeatedly having your head dunked in a bucket full of ice water.
