And I'm not trying to be mean or single anyone out. It feels like we're not speaking the same language though. There is nothing verified about someone asserting info on Linkedin or a personal webpage.

Not to mention that nobody has time to individually evaluate the trustworthiness of every user’s personal domain. The value of the original blue check was as a simple visual indicator that an account had passed a standardized process, imparting some reasonable threshold of authenticity.
right – shouldn't this work in a decentralised way, somehow, similar to Google's Pagerank? If people you trust vouch for others, their verification would carry weight, creating a web of trust that ensures authenticity without relying on a central authority.
