Don't want to yuck anyone's yum so the only thing I'll say is, there's a brief bit in the middle of the movie where the two original stars of the Broadway play come out & sing and ... their voices are *obviously* better than the movie's leads. Like way better.

Fascinating! Because my kept-to-myself hot take for like 25 years has been that I never particularly loved Idina Menzel lolol
Cynthia Erivo got her start on the West End and then made her Broadway debut as Celie in the color purple. She literally started in theater.
When we were young my wife and I splurged to go see the original on Broadway. We were drawn by Kristin Chenoweth’s name, but quickly realized the actor playing Elphaba was blowing the roof off. It was, of course, Idina Menzel.
Haven't seen it, so can't doubt, but I'm honestly surprised to hear about Erivo's voice not matching up to, well, anyone really.
Lol
Just saw it too. Also not my cup of tea. Disagree on one point. Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) has a PHENOMENAL voice that they somehow down-mixed so as not to overpower her co-star. I was fortunate to see her on Broadway in The Color Purple, which she won a Tony for. See her live if you can.
It's an embarrassing moment
