The reason voters didn't buy that the Democrat's believed in tough borders OTOH is the Biden admin did reverse a lot of Trump admin policies. Unfortunately, some of those were popular + we have to admit, the busing migrants to deep blue cities was a masterful political move by DeSantis & Abbott.

It was cruel and as a good white liberal I agree with you, but the issue is that a lot of other Latino's didn't see it as cruel, including immigrants, which is why we saw the shifts among Latino voters in places like NYC and LA. Again, the white vote stayed still, the non-white vote shifted to Trump

Anybody who voted for Trump was misinformed, disinformed, racist or all of the above. The racism makes the other two easier. Racism and ethnic discrimination definitely exist within the very large, very non-monolithic group we call Latino. Trump campaigned on cruelty, it resonated with them.

I'd also note is was within these deep blue areas like NYC, Chicago, LA that saw some of the most shift to the right, as opposed to swing states, where Kamala's message was heard and performed better. Not enough to win, because people really, really hate inflation.
