I felt compelled to do a substack post about the (IMO) completely nonsensical NOAA statement about NWS staffing which in my opinion is disrespectful to current NWS staff trying to do their best to serve the nation. (Also included an evening severe weather update)

This means, limited outreach from the office, excess stress and work for the remaining staff, a risk that if things break they take longer to fix, and probably more. It becomes something of a public safety concern for us here in Houston.

That some serious bs. There also has to be some personal degradation in performance because to add to all of this…. Shift work. So assume data is fine the final product can be off because they are running the remaining staff into the ground

Last night I was watching Ryan Hall’s stream (I’ve always been fascinated by weather). It seemed like they were ahead of the NWS many times with warnings. I know that can happen sometimes, but this seemed like a lot. Was it just me?

No. They’re probably trying to find every possible warning and reporting on it. It’s a unique way of covering this stuff which gives them an advantage to make it seem that way. But not related to the budget stuff.
