I lived in Abu Dhabi for 2 years and there I learned, through experience, that the difference between expat and immigrant is social class and often skin colour. It's disgusting really. All the white people refer to themselves as expats.

First time I was in Dubai I tried walking from my hotel and to use public transport, both a bust. In the end taxis became the easiest way to travel. There was no way in hell I was going to drive on that motorway at rush hour it was insane.
