Finally got around to reading @nickhewitt4.bsky.social excellent book on the Normandy landings. Shows the massive scale of the planning, logistics and luck that was needed to achieve it. So much more than the beaches. Recommended reading

One of the strengths and weaknesses of studying history is it adds naunce and depth to characters. When you read about Thatcher hiding behind a sofa, when an unexpected speech writer turns up, it def makes the brain go "but it's Thatcher"!
