Oh no, they only lay claims on all their neighbors and plan to destroy Taiwan. Oh the unjustifed sinophobia!

In this specific case I suspect there’s a bit of bad conscience involved. The one country that recently engaged in this sort of consumer-electronics terrorism is of course our ally Israel. And if “we” can do it to “them,” why shouldn’t they do it to us?
In the best US reporting on the inflated fears of PRC espionage or sabotage, with no evidence that this has actually happened, you get a mention down on paragraph 13 along the lines of, we know it’s possible because we’ve done it
i may be wrong but i feel like this mania just isnt filtering down to the street as much as previous Greatest Adversary propaganda pushes have done or even as effectively as previous sinophobia campaigns have done
like there was some gas in the days when we acknowledged covid to really keep up some hate crimes but now that everyone has to pretend covid doesnt exist anymore the hate campaign is untethered
Yeah, I don't love China for obvious reasons (the reasons are "they are a repressive regime with territorial desires on some neighbors," same reason I'm not in love with the USA right now), but a lot of stuff, like Belt and Road, is...exactly how wealthy countries should use their power.
much said about the lack of humanities education for stem students but like.... maybe journalists need to take some computer classes so they don't see them as magical objects that work like the depictions in action movies

It’s all so weird
The threat to the US is "the USA not being able to do literally anything it wants everywhere"
That is not a real threat
